Energy Switching Algorithm and Database

The Issue

Our client needed an algorithm to create current and historical yearly consumer energy costs. This was required across all possible tariffs and regions for a cost savings calculator.

We designed a stand-alone algorithm to precisely calculate the total cost of any given usage and tariff structure. This algorithm powered an energy-switching website enabling customers to obtain the cheapest price across all tariffs according to their usage. Alongside this, we designed an off-line database that not only mimicked the action of the website, but also allowed in-depth analysis of the consumer energy market.

The efficient algorithm that was built enabled this website to function more accurately and much faster. The new in-house database was used for switchers’ savings analysis, market pricing analysis and numerous other projects (see our case study Energy Big Number).
